89 Women economically empowered in 2017.

Violence against women is an endemic social problem in Pakistan. Nearly 70 to 90 percent women suffer from many forms of abuses. More than 5000 women are being killed per year due to the domestic violence and thousands of women have been injured badly. At a time when awareness of women’s rights has been growing worldwide, it is paradoxical that violence against women should be on the rise in countries like Pakistan. Violence against women is rife in Pakistan, in rural and urban settings within all classes, castes and religious groups.
Talitha KUMI’s mission is to help the marginalized, underprivileged & oppressed women who are victims of various forms of violence and who find it very difficult to pursue the injustices done to them in a male-dominated society in Pakistan.
Despite of many challenges, Talitha KUMI managed to contribute and play its role as right-based, pro-poor women organization. The women and communities, we were engaged with, are our constant source of courage, resilience and motivation. Positive indicators have also been experience and reported by Talitha KUMI. We have witness clearer societal acknowledgment of the unacceptability of Gender Base Violence and greater recognition and a broader understanding of GBV in the target communities Talitha KUMI has been engaged with since 2000.

During the year 2017 our Legal Aid Program reached to 30 women in distress. There are 16 Awareness Building Activities were organized in which 415 male and female participated. There were 89 girls economically strengthened through different skills training programs.
