Talitha Koomi organise a session on breast cancer to observe Pink October

In a global effort to raise awareness on breast cancer, October has been designated as the Pink Month. The Pink Month is a month where efforts to educate those concerned about the disease, including early identification and signs and symptoms associated.

Talitha Koomi Welfare Society, under its education and Awareness Building Progam organize a seminar on 29th October 2022 to celebrate Pink October. Sister Marriam Saba, trained nurse said that we need to de-stigmatise breast cancer and initiate long-term awareness campaigns so that women take prevention measures and receive an early diagnosis to treat the disease before it becomes life-threatening.

Participants have learnt about causes and precautions of breast cancer. The speaker said, this disease is spreading very rapidly. About 40,000 women die due to breast cancer every year in Pakistan which is the highest rate in Asia. According to a research report 90000 new cases of breast cancer patients recorded every year in Pakistan.

Early detection of this disease is curable. She said we should not shy. Because Unawareness & shyness causes delay in early detection and can be fatal. Various steps to examine oneself in a better way was also discussed and demonstrated.

Pink Ribbons and breast cancer related awareness building material were distributed among the participants. At the end of the program Ms. Neelam Waheed thanks speaker and PINK RIBBON Pakistan for the provision of seminar printing material. Pink Ribbon Pakistan is an organization dedicatedly working on the issue of breast cancer.

The participants lighten the candles as symbol of hope, solidarity, and commitment to join hands to fight breast cancer together.
