A Workshop on Fundamental Rights held in Talitha Koomi Center.

A Workshop on Fundamental rights was held in Talitha Koomi Center. The objective of workshop was to
a) To explain the meaning of rights and duties and importance in our day to day life;
b) To assess the importance of Fundamental Rights given in the Constitution of Pakistan
c) To understand the process of seeking justice through constitutional means in case of violation of Fundamental Rights
The Fundamental Rights
These are the basic human rights of all citizens, defined in the Constitution Pakistan. These are applicable irrespective of race, place of birth, religion, caste, creed, or gender. They are enforceable by the courts, subject to specific restrictions. Following are some of the important rights of the citizens of Pakistan in accordance with the Constitution which were explained with cases study.
1. Right to Equality
2. Right to freedom
a. Freedom of speech and expression
b. Freedom to assemble peacefully and without arms
c. Freedom to form Associations and Unions
d. Freedom to move freely
e. Freedom to reside and settle in any part Pakistan
f. Freedom to practice any profession or to carry on any occupation, trade or business
3. Right against exploitation
4. Right to freedom of religion
5. Cultural and Educational Rights
6. Right to Constitutional Remedies
7. Right to Education (RTE)
All participants enthusiastically participated in the workshop. Students asked many questions about their rights, freedom of privacy etc.
