Shunila Ruth is now elected member of Parliament

Shunila Ruth, Honorary Executive Director and Co-Founder of Talitha KUMI has been elected as Member National Assembly of Pakistan in a recent general election held in July 2018.

She takes this new role as challenge and it has furthered her compassion and commitment for women empowerment and socio economic development Christian Minority communities in Pakistan. She is eager to work as an important instrument for parliamentary diplomacy and legislation on critical issues relating to women and Christian minority.

In past she also served as a Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) of Punjab during 2013 -2018. As MPA She fully participated in the legislation, business of the assembly be it, question hour, zero hour, call attention notice, point of order, adjournment motion. Actively participated in pre and post annual budget discussion. She submitted the bills in the Punjab Assembly;1) Amendment in Punjab Christian Divorce Act.2) Punjab Minority Protection Bill,3) Punjab compulsory education for non-muslim students,4) Punjab Forced conversion and forced marriage bill.

An ardent advocate of women rights she co-founded "Talitha KUMI Center" in year 2000 with mission to empowering women to overcome various forms of violence. Since the inception of "Talitha KUMI Center" hundreds of women victim of violence have been rescued and rehabilitated, thousands of women earned economic independence by learning different skills and training.
