37th Batch of Midwives Joins Labour Room Training

Talitha Koomi's 37th batch of midwives today joined labour room practical training in Central Park Teaching Hospital after completing their one year theory. The labour room training will continue for the next 6 months.

Talitha Koomi's midwifery programme initiated in year 2001 to economically empower young girls and trained them as birth attendant. A birth attendant, also known as skilled birth attendant, is a health professional who provides basic and emergency care to women and their newborns during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.

Since year 2001, we have trained 890 midwives who are serving in difficult hospital. They are not only economically empowered but also instrument in reducing mother and child mortality rate in the country. PAKISTAN has the world's highest newborn mortality rate
